Local Country Music Singer Eli Tellor released his first single in 5 years today, March 15.

“Strangers Again” was written by Tellor and local songwriter Gordon Holden.

Tellor said Holden writes a lot of parodies, so when he approached Tellor with a song idea, he was expecting something much different than a serious song about a relationship.

“As soon as I heard the title, it sent chills up my spine,” said Tellor. “How can you become strangers again?”

The song discusses a breakup between two people, and discusses the idea of going back in time and becoming “strangers again.” Would they be together, or go their separate ways?

The single also features YouTube star Jaclyn Glenn, who is the daughter of local music producer and musician Steve Hornbeak. Hornbeak also produced the track.

The song has been featured on 94.1 WMIX Radio, and filming for the music video begins next week. In the coming months, an EP of several songs will be released.

Tellor’s last CD was released in 2013 when he got a record deal. From there, he was featured on one of the oldest talent search shows: the Country Showdown. He won an award for the Best New Act in the Midwest in 2014, and was up for the Best New Act in Country Music in 2015.

The show was hosted by LeeAnn Rhimes, who was one of many stars to host the show over its many decades. The final show of each season is aired on several television channels, including ABC and CMT.

After the Showdown, Tellor returned home from Nashville and began performing all over Southern Illinois. In his career, he has opened up for names such as John Michael Montgomery, Tracey Lawrence and Gary Allan.

Now, in addition to the EP, Tellor is pursuing some ventures in the Nashville, Tenn. area. He plans to pursue producing music as well as writing for other artists.

Tellor’s next show will be tomorrow night at StarView Vineyards in Cobden. For more information on upcoming tour dates and shows, visit http://Facebook.com/EliTellorMusic.
